live action elements of extras were reduced down to fit the scale of the fortress.
The left and right foreground rocks were photographed at the Valley of Fire National
park in Nevada. The surrounding and distant hills were painted, and portions of
the fortress are painted, based on a miniature constructed by Nicholas Blake and
Fecundo Ribadi. Henry Darnell built the miniature windmills. (click on image to view larger in new window) |
